About PETS
Referral Center

PETS Referral Center in 1979 by a group of local general practice veterinarians. They recognized a need for after hours care to support the local community and reduce the burden of emergency calls to primary care hospitals. PETS has since expanded into a 24/7 emergency and multi specialty hospital. Our specialties are all board certified in their respective fields of Exotics, Oncology, Ophthalmology and Surgery. Through the years we have worked with primary veterinarians and pet parents to provide the best possible medical care.

Our Mission

To serve pets and people by continually pushing to improve our medicine, our service, our communication, and ourselves. We can accomplish this by working as a team, supporting our referring veterinarians, caring about every patient, learning from others, embracing change, and using intelligent and fair business practices.

About Us

Proudly serving tens of thousands of pets each year, we are a trusted partner for family veterinarians and pet lovers in Berkeley and the surrounding Bay Area. We know your pet is an important part of your family, and emergencies and major medical issues can be stressful, so we treat your pet like our own and communicate with you and your family veterinarian every step of the way.

We work closely with you, the primary care veterinarian, to provide your patient and client with the best possible care. We also feel the most essential ingredient in providing quality medical care is the people, and we are very proud of our team of skilled and compassionate doctors, nurses, and client service staff. When your pet is under our care, you can rest assured that they are in good hands.

Our hospital was specifically designed to provide emergency care, and all pets receive the closest supervision around the clock. Each pet receives individual attention and comfortable bedding. Except when we are unusually busy, we allow families to visit their pets and feel this can promote recovery.

We are committed to providing your patients and families with the same care and compassion we would want for our pets. Gentle handling and comfort are top priorities, and your patients will be treated kindly while under our care.
